“MEX is a universal product that we’ve easily been able to adapt to meet our aged care needs”
We purchased MEX about two years ago, and have since been incrementally integrating the software into our day to day maintenance practices. When MEX was initially purchased our first step was to attend the introduction to MEX – two day training course.
Currently we are in the process of setting up a detailed Asset Register which would predominately consist of medical equipment. The aim of this is to have an overview of all our Assets and their information in one central place.
We also utilise Work Orders as a means of tracking work completed, additionally we’ve implemented measures that require our contractors to reference Work Orders when quoting or invoicing work, this practice gives us the ability to accurately reconcile work completed and work invoiced with work ordered. We also use the handy Key Register to keep records of which staff members are in-trusted with facility keys.
MEX being reasonably generic doesn’t have any exclusive aged care features or any pre-loaded aged care data that we can access or use as a template. This simply means that we go through everything ourselves which is proving to be an effective method for understanding our Assets and how MEX works. As we progress we can decide on and create any data field we require so we’ve easily been able to adapt MEX to meet our needs in the Aged Care Industry. We’re currently using the latest version 15 which was a very welcome upgrade that’s user friendly and easy to navigate.
We know we’re not using MEX to its maximum potential as it is a work in progress. What we have implemented to date is certainly helping with our maintenance tracking. Our next task is to learn the Preventative Maintenance Module and have it cater for our scheduling servicing needs.
